Every day is a new day to create, recreate, and be the best version of yourself.
Taking a few moments to consider if you’re actually living the best version of yourself can change the outcome of your day, week, life for the better.
How to be your best self
Here are a few questions to ask yourself to bring your awareness to your actions, how they resonate with others, and provide an opportunity for change.
Put Yourself in Others Shoes
Reflect on recent interactions with your family, peers, and those you just met. If they were asked to describe you, what would they say? Would they say that you are….
- kind, caring, helpful, concerned
- Positive, motivating, uplifting
- Funny, jovial, lighthearted
- Leader, organized, encouraging
- Two faced, gossiper, twisted
- mean, harsh, abrasive, judgmental
- Controlling, stubborn, not a good listener
- Lazy, spacey, disorganized
Consider Yourself
What describes the best version of yourself and how do you want others to perceive you?
- hardworking, determined, leader
- Nice, helpful, positive
- Health conscious, mindful, aware
- Purposeful, intentional, wise
- Generous, thoughtful, kind
- Influential, effective
- Smart, bright, creative
- Courteous, honest
Recognize the Difference
Looking at how people feel about who you are and who you feel that you are, are there any differences?
Was there an exchange that you feel didn’t reflect how you intended to present yourself?
Are there many occurrences where you see yourself exhibiting behavior that does not reflect the true you?
Accept and Improve
Accept that you were who you were then and that you are who you decide to be right now. If you want to BE different, start now. Eliminate stressors and influencers that limit your best self. Invite and be open to change that allows more positivity and happiness to flow through you.
Do your best until you know better and when you know better, do better.
Most of us don’t intend to be harsh, or mean, or gossipy, it just happens because of the stress and people we get caught up with.
If we take the time to recognize who we are and the true impact we want to make, we’ll live more intentional, purposeful lives.
Every day is a new day. A new slate, a new canvas, a new opportunity!
