Type 2 Diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), and high cholesterol, are associated with the android body shape (tummy bigger than the waste).
- Type 2 Diabetes is caused by insulin resistance.
- Hypertension is high blood pressure.
- Hypercholesterolemia is high cholesterol.
If you have been told by your doctor that you have any of these 3 diseases and you have an android shape, you can change your diet and exercise to reverse it.
WHR
Calculating your Waste to Hip Ratio will tell you what safety zone you’re in. You can determine if you’re at risk for disease by measuring your waste and your hips.
Do The Math
Divide your waste measurement by your hip measurement. Your waste will be measured at your navel (belly button) and your hips are measured at where your hip bones are located.

Males ratios are slightly higher than females, I assume because they tend to be more rectangular shaped than females.
